Karen joined the firm in February of 2009 after taking some time off from the practice of law to raise children. Karen has a background in estate planning and tax. After graduating from the University of Texas with her MBA, Karen practiced as a certified public accountant in the Dallas office of Arthur Anderson. Karen attended law school at Southern Methodist University and subsequently worked at Haynes & Boone in the tax department (which included estate planning) before having twins, Jackie and John. Karen also worked part-time at Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal in their trust and estate practice for a number of years before having her third child, Matthew, and decided to stay home full time to raise her children. When her two oldest went to college, Karen returned to the practice of law part time, which she has throughly enjoyed. With her youngest now in college, she has devoted more time to practicing law. Karen and her husband, Jerry, enjoy traveling and being at home with their family.

Karen is a member of the Dallas Estate Planning Council, the Trust & Estate Section of the Dallas Bar Association, the Texas Real Property, Probate & Trusts Section of the Texas State Bar, Dallas Junior League Sustainer’s Division, the Chi Omega Mother Club, a member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church and a former member of the Episcopal School of Dallas Parent Association Board.
